Service Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P STYLE="font-weight:bold;margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN /></P><P STYLE="font-weight:bold;margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt">Waitaki River </SPAN><SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt">Indicative </SPAN><SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt">Flood Plain – </SPAN><SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt">March 2021</SPAN><SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt">- Draft layer.</SPAN></P><P STYLE="font-weight:bold;margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN /></P><P STYLE="font-weight:bold;margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN>Otago part of Waitaki floodplain mapped to assist Waitaki District Council District plan review mapped in September 202</SPAN><SPAN>0, edited March 2021.</SPAN></P><P STYLE="font-weight:bold;margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN /><SPAN /></P><P /><P STYLE="font-weight:bold;margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Method:</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="font-weight:bold;margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN /><SPAN /></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>To determine the indicative flood plain area for the Waitaki River (Waitaki District section) the ORC Waitaki Plain 2016 LIDAR was used (derivatives for display: elevation, 1m contours, slope breaks) in conjunction with aerial imagery (latest ESRI World Imagery Basemap and ORC Waitaki Rural aerials from 2014) to determine the indicative flood plain area (from Kurow downstream to the river mouth). </SPAN></SPAN></P><P /><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Because of the discontinuous nature of the contour information due to the river gradient, a specific contour(s) was not chosen to delineate the entire area. Instead the flood plain margin was estimated to be where break in slope, elevation change and contour information were in consistent agreement.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P /><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN STYLE="font-weight:bold;">NB:</SPAN><SPAN /><SPAN>At the southern section of the map, the flood plain for the river mouth was not easily discernible. In this case, the margin has been mapped to follow Works Road from Pukeuri to the river mouth.</SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN /></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN>This layer is a subset of a wider mapped extent for the Waitaki River Floodplain. The mapped Otago Flood Hazard and ECan flood hazard areas (where they overlap with the Waitaki FloodPlain) have been clipped out to preserve clarity on rules for the Waitaki District Plan Review 2021. This layer has been prepared for the ORC-ECan Waitaki District Plan Story Map. </SPAN></P><P /><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN /></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
